Shawna Courter is a linguist and art historian by trade and spent several years teaching at the university level. She has lived in Europe and Asia and along both coasts of the U.S. She currently resides in Charleston, South Carolina where she is learning about Gullah culture, the “native Charleston accent”, historic preservation, and how to wear pastels year round.
